Paris-Roubaix Adds Even More Cobblestones to Infamous Race

Organizers Respond to Criticisms of Lack of Difficulty

1896 Originators Would be Aghast at Today's Conditions

The organizers of the iconic Paris-Roubaix cycling race have announced that they will be adding even more cobblestones to the course for this year's edition. The move comes after some riders criticized the race for becoming too easy in recent years.

The Paris-Roubaix race is one of the most prestigious and challenging in the world. It is known for its punishing cobblestone sectors, which can cause riders to crash or suffer mechanical problems. In 2022, the race was won by Dylan van Baarle of the Netherlands. However, some riders, including former winner Tom Boonen, have said that the race has become too easy in recent years.

In response to these criticisms, the organizers have decided to add more cobblestones to the course. The new cobblestones will be located in the Arenberg Forest, which is one of the most difficult sectors of the race. The organizers believe that the new cobblestones will make the race more challenging and exciting.

The first edition of Paris-Roubaix took place in 1896 and was won by Josef Fischer of Germany. The race has been held every year since then, except for during the two World Wars. The race is currently 259.7 kilometers long and features 29 cobblestone sectors.
